The Maleic Resin ismodified by polymerizationof fatty rosin and alcohols or phenolic . It is granular or irregular block.It is soluble in coal tar, esters, vegetable oil, turpentine, insoluble in alcohols.

Solid Maleic resin could be used for water-based inks when the alcohol solution in neutralized to PH7 by amine, then diluted to hydrotropic solution with purification water, use for water-base systems.

It is made from maleic modified rosin through esterification with polyalcohol. It could be dissolved in mixed solvent of toluene and alcohol, alcoholic solvent with fast drying and high gloss.
